Please note that unlike in previous years this represents an overview of the reading I did in 2022!

- Babel: An Arcane History by RF Kuang : Incredible fantasy/alternative history of the British empire – chock full of interrogations of imperialism. So nerdy and so good!
- For fans of: The Bone Season, The Night Circus, Everfair, She Who Became the Sun, American War
- Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman : There are a million “how to be more productive” books out there. This one is refreshingly simple, with an authentic and scholarly voice.
- Kiss Her Once for Me by Alison Cochrun : Fluffy queer holiday romance in the very best way. The perfect piece of cake!
- For fans of: Delilah Green Doesn’t Care, A Lady for A Duke, One Last Stop
- Praying with Jane Eyre: Reflections on Reading as a Sacred Practice by Vanessa Zoltan : All the pomp and circumstance, none of the baggage. As someone who grew up in a high holy Episcopal church, this was soothingly familiar. Examines what it means to treat a text as sacred, with or without the religious components.
- For fans of: The Power of Ritual, Soul Friends, H is for Hawk
- Worldly Things by Michael Kleber-Diggs : When a poetry collection makes the top list, you know it’s good! This collection is vulnerable and angry in equal measure. “America is Loving me to Death” is one of the best poems I’ve read – both on a craft and message level.
- For fans of: In the Field Between Us, Thrall, The Fire This Time
