Lila by Marilynne Robinson
Rating: 4/5
Method Read: Paperback
I’ve been interested in Marilynne Robinson‘s work for a while. Not only is she a National Book Award Finalist, she is a favorite of the BookRiot team AND she did a kick-ass interview with President Obama. I received my copy of Lila from my OTSP Secret Sister a few months ago, but I needed a bit of a push to get going on it.
This book is sleepy and sweeping. It’s a delicious mix of Midford and Yoknapatawpha County. It is perfect for reading in one sitting, with it’s narrative forming an endless circle, looping and swirling back into itself. I absolutely adored it and can’t wait to read more of Robinson’s work.
One note of caution, if non-linear narratives are challenging for you perhaps this is not your book.
On January 16-17 I participated in the 24 in 48 readathon. The next few reviews will be from books I read during that time.
